FREE MB Class 2 (Bus) Commercial Licence Practice Test
In Manitoba, holding a Class 2 commercial driver’s licence opens up a wide variety of job opportunities. One reason is that a Class 2 commercial driver’s licence allows you to operate Class 2 vehicles (full-size buses) and Class 4 vehicles (buses capable of carrying from 10 to 24 passengers) plus Class 3 and Class 5 vehicles.
Jobs driving Class 2 vehicles: Winnipeg and other urban centres employ transit bus drivers, tour companies employ coach bus drivers, and school divisions employ school bus drivers. (However, there are several additional requirements for school bus drivers beyond holding a Class 2 licence.) Jobs driving Class 4 vehicles: there are often job openings for (non-emergency) patient transport drivers and shuttle bus drivers at airports or hotels.
To apply for a Class 2 commercial driver’s licence in Manitoba, you must be at least 18 years old, hold a Class 5A (Authorized Instruction) or 5I (Intermediate Stage) driver’s licence at minimum, submit a Medical Examination Report, and pass a vision screening test.
Next, you must pass a written knowledge test on the theory of driving Class 2 vehicles. You must score at least 80% to pass. Passing the test enables you to obtain Class 2 Authorized Instruction, which will allow you to practice commercial driving under supervision. Mandatory Entry-Level Training (MELT) is not required for a Class 2 licence in Manitoba.
For a Class 2 licence, you should also obtain an Air Brakes endorsement on your Class 2 licence because most full-size Class 2 vehicles in Manitoba have air brakes. To do this, start by passing the official Air Brake knowledge test. To obtain the Air Brakes endorsement, you must also pass the official practical air brake test before or with your Class 2 road test.
The Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) Professional Driver’s Manual and Air Brake Manual are the official references for aspiring commercial drivers in the province. However, if you would like more intensive knowledge training in Class 2 driving than you can get by reading the manuals, we can help!
This 45-question Manitoba Class 2 Knowledge practice test, the first of twelve such tests we offer, covers the basics of operating Class 2 vehicles. All practice questions are based on the above MPI references. If you get stuck on a practice question, ask our AI Assistant to give you a hint, rephrase the question, or answer your own questions about commercial driving. If you still miss the practice question, the AI Assistant will give you the correct answer and an explanation.
