Turn handbook rules into road-ready instinct.

Tests.ca was built to address a gap in Canadian driver education: learners studying lengthy provincial handbooks, failing their knowledge tests, and entering traffic underprepared. We created province-specific practice questions written in plain English, verified against official handbooks by our editorial team, and updated whenever provincial regulations change.

Since 2010, over 6 million Canadians have used Tests.ca to prepare for their knowledge tests. Our materials follow a rigorous editorial process and cover all 13 provinces and territories - from Ontario's MTO handbook to British Columbia's ICBC guide to Quebec's SAAQ requirements.

What We Offer

  • Province-Specific Content: Every question is tied to the exact handbook your provincial examiner uses. Questions are updated within days of any rule change.
  • Detailed Explanations: Each answer includes a rationale explaining why it's correct, turning mistakes into learning opportunities.
  • Realistic Mock Exams: Timed simulations that match the scoring, format, and pressure of the actual knowledge test at your provincial testing centre.
  • Accuracy Guarantee: All content is triple-checked against official provincial sources and updated promptly when handbooks change.

Our Standards

How we maintain accuracy across 13 jurisdictions

Official Sources Only

Every question is verified against official provincial driver's handbooks, Highway Traffic Acts, Motor Vehicle Acts, and Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) standards. We never rely on third-party summaries.

Sources we use
  • Provincial Driver's Handbooks (MTO, ICBC, SGI, SAAQ, MPI, etc.)
  • Provincial Highway Traffic Acts and Motor Vehicle Acts
  • TAC standards for signs and markings

Expert Review

Our Chief Educational Researcher, Steven Litvintchouk, M.S., leads the editorial review of all practice test content across every province. Steven holds degrees from MIT and Columbia University and is a member of ACES: The Society for Editing.

Continuous Updates

We monitor provincial licensing authority publications weekly. When changes are detected in any province's handbook or regulations, affected questions are reviewed and updated within the same week. Our full methodology is publicly available.
