  • Updated for January 2026
  • Perfect for first-time and renewal commercial applicants, and those adding endorsements
  • Triple-checked for accuracy

Did you know that Ontario’s Queen Elizabeth Way is the only major highway in the province that doesn’t have a posted highway number? Instead, its signs feature the letters “QEW” in blue on a yellow background. As a licensed driver, you must be able to recognize road signs and follow their indications at all times. The official Ministry of Transportation (MTO) Truck Handbook describes the various aspects of commercial driving theory, including traffic signs, safe driving practices, and pre-trip inspections.

Our Ontario Commercial General Knowledge Road Signs Practice Test consists of multiple-choice questions based on the traffic signs section of the official MTO Truck Handbook. To pass, you must score 80% or higher. If you make a mistake, we will provide immediate feedback that helps you understand why your choice was wrong. Pay attention to the detailed explanation and note it down in a notebook or notebook app for future reference.

During your learning phase, it is crucial to avoid rushing. For this reason, we have omitted any timer from this practice test. Take as long as you need to analyze each question, inspect the image of the road sign, and consider the answer choices. If you encounter an unfamiliar sign, you can request help from our automated assistant. It can provide hints that nudge you in the right direction without revealing the correct answer. When you receive personalized help, you can study commercial driving theory efficiently.

All users get unlimited attempts and nonstop access to this intuitive tool. You don’t need advanced computer skills to control this practice test. If you fail, you can begin a new session right away. However, you should check your personal Challenge Bank™ first, as it includes detailed explanations for all the questions you got wrong during your previous attempts. Questions in the Challenge Bank will remain there until you answer them correctly.

Your dream career is within reach, and with the right tools, you’ll build the knowledge and confidence necessary to pass the official written knowledge test.
