Northwest Territories Fines and Limits Test

To obtain a Class 7 learner’s licence in the Northwest Territories, an individual must be at least 15 years old, pass a vision screening and the Class 7 Knowledge Exam, and present valid government-issued identification. If you’re under 18, you must also provide written parental or guardian consent. A significant part of the Northwest Territories Class 7 Knowledge Exam is the fines, limits, and penalties questions. If you fail the exam, you will have to wait one day and pay to retest. Our Northwest Territories Fines, Limits, and Penalties Practice Test helps you pass this part of the knowledge exam on your first attempt.

To pass the test, you must know the rules, penalties, and safety expectations, especially those related to fines, speed limits, and licence suspensions. Speeding in construction zones results in doubled fines when workers are present. Additionally, you must know the default speed limits (unless otherwise posted) are 90 km/h on primary highways outside municipalities and 50 km/h within municipalities or settlements. In school and playground zones, the limit is typically 30 km/h, and you cannot pass vehicles during zone hours.

Learner and probationary drivers must maintain a zero blood alcohol concentration and are banned from using cell phones while driving. Accumulating six or more demerits can result in a learner’s suspension. Additionally, you must carry at least $200,000 in liability insurance, and proof must be shown to an officer upon request.

Once you receive a Class 7 Learner’s Licence, you may drive under the supervision of a fully licensed (for at least two years) driver from 6 AM to 11 PM. These restrictions are part of the Northwest Territories’s three-stage Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) system. All new drivers (including adults) must abide by these GDL levels and holding periods.

The Northwest Territories Knowledge Exam is made up of 30 multiple-choice questions. Of these 30 questions, you must answer 25 correctly (83%) to pass. The exam must be taken at a Driver and Vehicle office.

Our Northwest Territories Fines, Limits, and Penalties Practice Test is based on the most recent Northwest Territories Driver’s Guide and contains 30 multiple-choice questions. Unlike standard study guides, our practice tests provide immediate explanations for each response, enhancing retention.

Fines, limits, and penalties are just part of your knowledge exam. See our other Northwest Territories Knowledge Exam Practice Tests!
