FREE Yukon Class 1 Licence Test

Yukon is a sparsely settled land of stunning landscapes and extreme winters. Class 1 driving in the territory can be quite hazardous in winter. Still, Class 1 drivers can find economic opportunities in several key economic sectors.

Mining continues to be Yukon’s major industry, especially gold, silver, copper, zinc, and lead. Class 1 drivers haul mining equipment to the mines. They haul ore from the mines on intermodal routes (ports or rail) to other provinces or the United States for processing. Also, ongoing construction and infrastructure development need Class 1 drivers to transport lumber, cement, and construction equipment to construction sites. The logistics sector also needs Class 1 drivers to resupply communities with fuel and stores with food and other goods.

To upgrade your Class 5 driver’s licence to a Class 1 commercial driver’s licence, you must meet a series of requirements, including providing adequate identification, passing a vision test, submitting a doctor’s medical report, and passing a Class 1 knowledge test on the theory of operating Class 1 vehicles. The official Yukon reference for operating commercial vehicles (Classes 1 through 4) is the handbook Driving Commercial Vehicles. Once you’ve passed the knowledge test, you can obtain a Class 1 learner’s permit, allowing you to operate Class 1 vehicles under supervision. Keep practicing until you feel ready to pass the official driving test for a Class 1 licence.

Practically all Class 1 vehicles have air brakes, so you must also obtain an air brake endorsement on your Class 1 licence. There are two ways you can get the air brake endorsement in Yukon. One way is to complete an approved Air Brake course. The other way is to pass a separate knowledge test on air brakes and then pass the air brake practical test.

Class 1 driving theory is challenging to master just by reading about it. We offer three Yukon Class 1 Knowledge practice tests to reinforce and enhance your knowledge of the subject through intensive repetition.

This is the first of those practice tests. It’s up to date as of April 2025 and based on the official handbook, Driving Commercial Vehicles. Our AI Assistant can help you with any question by supplying a hint or rephrasing the question. You can even ask your own questions about commercial driving. If you still miss the question, the AI Assistant will immediately show you the correct answer and an explanation.

Finally, please check out our other two Yukon Class 1 Knowledge practice tests and our nine Yukon Air Brake practice tests!
