NWT Traffic Signs and Road Situations

To obtain a Class 7 learner’s licence in the Northwest Territories, an individual must be at least 15 years old, pass a vision screening and the Class 7 Knowledge Exam, and present valid government-issued identification. If you’re under 18, you must also provide written parental or guardian consent. A significant part of the Northwest Territories Class 7 Knowledge Exam is the traffic signs and road situations section. If you fail the exam, you must wait one day and pay an additional fee to retest. Our Northwest Territories Traffic Signs and Road Situations Practice Test will help you ace this part of the knowledge exam on your first attempt.

Once you receive a Class 7 Learner’s Licence, you may drive under supervision with restrictions. You must be accompanied by a fully licensed driver who has held the licence for at least two years, and you may not drive from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. These restrictions are part of the Northwest Territories’s Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) system, which helps new drivers gain experience gradually. The GDL’s three-stage process consists of Class 7 (Learner’s Licence), Class 5P (Probationary Licence), and the full Class 5 licence. Drivers must hold the Class 7 licence for 12 months with no passengers except an adult supervisor. They must hold the Class 5P licence for 12 months before becoming eligible for the full license. These holding requirements apply to all new drivers, including adults.

The Northwest Territories Knowledge Exam is in two parts: 20 questions on road signs and 20 questions on road rules. You must correctly answer 16 questions (80%) in each part to pass the exam. You’ll take the test at a Driver and Vehicle Office.

Our Northwest Territories Traffic Signs and Road Situations Practice Test is based on the most recent version of the Northwest Territories Driver’s Guide. It contains 30 multiple-choice questions to assess your knowledge of traffic signs and road situations. One of our practice tests’ exclusive features is the inclusion of immediate explanations for each response. Unlike standard study guides, this added provision enhances retention and speeds the learning process, ensuring you pass this part of the official knowledge test on your first attempt. Traffic signs and road situations are one part of your knowledge exam. Be sure to check out our other Northwest Territories Knowledge Exam Practice Tests!
