View All PlansTo obtain a Class 5 learner’s licence in Manitoba, an individual must be at least 16 (or 15½ if enrolled in a Driver Z program currently in progress), pass a vision screening and the Class 5 Knowledge Test, present valid government-issued identification, and, if under 18, provide written parental or guardian consent. The Driver Z program is Manitoba’s comprehensive driver education course for high school students, combining classroom instruction, in-car training, parental involvement, and early licensure eligibility starting at age 15½. Formal driver’s training is recommended but not required for a Class 5L licence in Manitoba. A significant part of the Manitoba Class 5 Knowledge Test is the traffic signs and road situations section. If you fail the exam, you will need to wait a minimum of seven days and pay an additional fee to retake the test. Our Manitoba Traffic Signs and Road Situations Practice Test is designed to help you ace this part of the knowledge exam on your first attempt.
Once the requirements are met and you receive a Class 5 Learner’s Licence, you may drive under supervision by a fully licensed driver in the front seat. This restriction is part of Manitoba’s Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) Program, which helps new drivers gain experience through a gradual three-stage process: Class 5L (Learner’s Licence), Class 5I (Intermediate Licence), and the full Class 5F licence. Note that the GDL program and its holding periods apply to all new drivers, including adults.
The Manitoba Knowledge Exam (available in 22 languages) comprises 30 multiple-choice questions covering road rules, traffic control signs, right-of-way rules, and defensive driving strategies. You must take the exam at an MPI Service Centre or mobile service unit. You must correctly answer at least 25 out of 30 (83%) questions to pass.
Our Manitoba Traffic Signs and Road Situations Practice Test is based on the most recent version of the Manitoba Driver’s Handbook. It contains multiple-choice questions to assess your knowledge of traffic signs and road situations. It includes immediate explanations for each response, speeding the learning process and ensuring you pass this part of the official knowledge test on your first attempt.
